“I’m here as as a proud American, a proud Democrat, a proud mother, and tonight in particular a very, very proud daughter,” Chelsea said prior to her mother’s acceptance speech.

Chelsea Clinton’s speech, much like her father’s earlier this week, offered a more personal portrayal of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Despite her mother’s busy schedule, “she was always always there for me,” and is now always there for her grandchildren. She said that her mother will “drop everything” in order to FaceTime for a few moments with her granddaughter Charlotte, Chelsea Clinton said.

“I never once doubted that my parents cared about my thoughts and my ideas, and I always, always knew they loved me,” she continued. “That thought of being valued is what my mom wants for every child. It is the calling of her life.”

Chelsea Clinton said said that when she was a child and her mother was away, she would leave “a note for me to open every day when she was gone.”

“I treasured each and every one of those notes. They were always a reminder that I was always in her thoughts and in her heart,” Chelsea Clinton said.

She said that her parents would listen to the details of her day and her thoughts on current events prior to telling her about their own.

“I loved that my parents expected me to have opinions and to be able to back them up with facts,” Chelsea Clinton said. “I never once doubted that my parents cared about my thoughts and my ideas, and I always, always knew how deeply they loved me. That feeling of being valued and loved, that’s what my mom wants for every child.”

Chelsea Clinton did not mention her mother’s rival Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, but said that in November, she will vote for “a woman who is my role model as a mother and as an advocate.”

“I hope that my children will someday be as proud of me as I am of my mother,” Chelsea Clinton said. “She makes me proud every single day. And to everyone watching tonight, I know with all my heart that my mother will make us proud as our next president.”

Both of her parents praised Chelsea Clinton’s speech on Twitter.

During her speech, Hillary Clinton became the first woman to accept a major party’s nomination for president of the United States.
