Trump Invokes ‘Frozen’ Movie in Defense of So-Called ‘Star of David’ Tweet

Just as controversy over Donald Trump’s so-called “anti-Semitic” tweet featuring the “Star of David” was starting to die down, the presumptive Republican nominee brought it up again — this time, defending the post with the hit Disney movie “Frozen.”

Trump tweeted an image of a “Frozen” sticker book with a star nearly identical to the one in his original tweet, which was posted by his social media director Dan Scavino, on the cover. The presumptive GOP nominee has stood by his claim that the shape was a regular star or a sheriff’s badge.

“Where is the outrage for this Disney book?” Trump tweeted Wednesday night. “Is this the ‘Star of David’ also? Dishonest media!”

The image had been circulating on Twitter and Imgur for a while before the billionaire businessman picked it up.

Only a few minutes later, Clinton responded to Trump’s tweet, asking, “Do you want to build a strawman?”

Earlier in the evening, Trump, campaigning in Cincinnati, Ohio, said he wished his campaign did not take down the tweet — which was soon replaced with a post featuring a circle in place of the star — and suggested it is actually CNN that is “racially profiling.”

“They took the star down. I said, ‘Too bad, you should have left it up,’” Trump told rally-goers. “I would have rather defended it. Just leave it up and say, ‘No, that’s not a Star of David, it’s just a star.’”

Of CNN, which he called the “Clinton News Network,” Trump said, “CNN started this dialogue, going, ‘It is the Star of David, and because it is the Star of David, Donald Trump has racist …’ These people are sick. I’m telling you. They’re racially profiling, not us.”

Trump insisted he is not anti-Semitic, noting the fact that his daughter Ivanka Trump converted to Judaism when she married Jared Kushner. The two are raising their children to be Jewish.

The New York real estate mogul also blamed Clinton for the controversy surrounding the tweet, claiming the former secretary of state wanted to distract the media from the FBI’s investigation into her use of a private email server during her time at the State Department.

“She’s the one who started the dialogue. You know why? Because she wanted to get off the FBI,” he said, referencing the FBI’s decision not to recommend charges against Clinton.

It was later discovered that Trump’s controversial tweet also appeared on a white supremacist website.
